Montavilla Guide

I really like the Montavilla area. It has great restaurants, bars, beer, authentic Vietnamese food, and Asian supermarkets. If we were fortunate to buy in East Portland again, this would be one of the first neighborhoods I’d look at. I would especially try to be within walking distance of Start St & 82nd Ave!

Below are our recommendations for the area :)

Montavilla Farmer's Market (4.6/5)

Open June to October, every Sunday from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. You can find more info on their website.

The Observatory (4.5/5, 1700+ reviews)

Description: Stylish neighborhood eatery earns buzz for its creative take on American classics & craft cocktails.

We liked: the happy hour menu, dinner specials, & their signature cocktails!

Flying Pie Pizzeria (4.6/5, 1100+ reviews)

Miyamoto (4.7/5)

Good, solid sushi. They have Omakase options starting at $50!

Roscoe’s (4.6/5)

Description: Low-key tavern with a pool table, offering rotating tap beers & hearty American comfort eats.

Vintage cocktail lounge (4.7/5)

We haven’t been to too many cocktail lounges but this one has been a top favorite so far!

monticello Antique Marketplace (4.6/5)

A coffee shop & antique store.

South montavilla

Travel 1 mile south to find a plethora of delicious Asian food and grocery stores.

Pho kim & pho van

Pho Kim is my go-to spot for Vietnamese food but since they’re remodeling, I’ve been doing take-out from Pho Van. However, I do not recommend the bún bò huế from Pho Van.
