30 Inspiring Black Womxn in Tech
In honor of Black History Month, I’ll be sharing 28 Inspiring Black Womxn in Tech. My hope for this project is to elevate black voices in tech and to normalize WOC engineers! This will be a growing list as I highlight a different person each day. Stay tuned!
Bukola Ayodele, The Come Up, Software Engineer
I admire Bukola because she became a software engineer without a CS degree or coding bootcamp. That takes some serious discipline! If you’re feeling lost, I highly recommend checking out Bukola’s channel. I regularly recommend her videos to Junior Developers I work with.
Maya Bello, Maya_Loves_Code, Software Engineer
Though Maya graduated from UC San Diego with a Computer Science degree, Maya’s videos are beginner-friendly for developers of all levels. Also, her voice is incredibly soothing!
3. Bree Hall, Bytes of Bree, Software Engineer
Bree’s method of sharing bits of tech knowledge on Instagram is what initially captured my attention. From 8 Tips and Tricks to Learn Programming to 5 Awesome Tech Job Boards, beginners are bound to learn something new!

4. Camille Eddy, iamcamilleeddy, Product Engineer
Camille helps “mission-driven startups build inclusive engineering platforms that scale”. If that wasn’t impressive enough, Camille is also an international speaker who has graced 15+ stages to present on Unwanted Bias in AI. I also love that she shares her love of photography on Instagram. Any other talents you’re hiding?!
5. Shante, shante.tech, Software Engineer
I find Shante’s Instagram feed so relatable. When I started my first job as a Data Analyst (then later Software Developer), I felt like I had to act a certain way to fit in. I was the only female developer on a team of five. I love that her feed is a combo of tech knowledge and her being a general badass developer. Major inspo!
6. Brittany, sassyandsecured, Cyber Security Analyst
Brittany brings cyber-security awareness to the everyday user. I’ve learned to check to make sure my web connection is secure with HTTPS and to not allow every app to track my location. She is so badass!
7. Jhilene, Colorful Codes, Software Developer
Another self-taught engineer who transitioned into tech without a CS Degree or a bootcamp. You’ll want to check out her Q&A blog post on how she landed a job at Microsoft! I first saw Jhilene through an interview with Bukola on their channel. I like how open and honest she was about her journey and paying off student loan debt. I can totally relate!
